Virginia Tech Campus Visit – Discovery & Adventure Await

virginia tech campus visits

It’s the time of year that new students visit and get to know their new home-away-from-home. Fresh faces are popping up all over as campus tours get started. It’s not just the incoming students that enjoy learning about the campus; it’s also nice for family members to envision and get to know the student’s new home for the coming year.

If you’re planning a campus visit, why not make it a family adventure weekend? Tour the campus and the surrounding area, making precious memories along the way.

Virginia Tech Campus Visit – What to Know, What to Do

Here are some ways you can turn your campus tour weekend into a memorable adventure.

FIRST, THE TOUR

Start with a tour of the campus. There are multiple options for tours, whether you want to check it all out in person with a guide or self-guided. You can also tour on foot, in your car, or even virtually!

Self-guided tours are a great way to get to know your way around and check out the various athletic fields, academic buildings, and campus landmarks. Guided tours are helpful because you get a much more in-depth knowledge of the buildings and what to expect on those first days of school.

There is also a narrated campus driving tour with a map which is especially useful when the weather is not cooperating or just to get a big picture view of the campus.

Before you hit the grounds, it might be fun to take a virtual tour of the property. You’re likely to find a few areas you’d like to get a closer look at when you arrive in person.

You can find all the VT tour options here.

NEXT, THE ADVENTURE

Blacksburg is so much more than just a college town. The town is steeped in adventure if you know where to look. If watersports are your thing, be sure to check out New River Junction. Sign up for a day of tubing or pack a picnic and spend the day leisurely hanging out by the water.

Don’t forget, there are also spectacular hiking trails on and near the Appalachian mountains. Our favorite recommendations can be found here.

Or challenge your fellow travelers to 18 holes on the iconic Pete Dye River Course with 2.5 miles of frontage on the New River..

No matter what type of adventure you’re looking for; you’re sure to find it in Blacksburg.

If you’re looking for accommodations that will enhance your weekend, The Inn at Virginia Tech, located right on campus, is just the place. We created our adventure package with college visitors in mind. The package includes overnight accommodations, breakfast at Preston’s, an adventure snack pack, and complimentary parking.

Sound just about perfect?
